The Biamp Portland Jazz Festival is a ten-day multi-venue celebration of jazz presented in Portland, Oregon. The Festival is dedicated to evolving America’s art form, featuring recognized jazz masters and rising jazz stars, alongside local jazz heroes.

Pre-Festival Celebration

The jazz vespers is an all-inclusive, meditative evening service of word and music in the form of a jazz tinged original liturgy, punctuated with jazz standards throughout. The St. James Jazz Vespers has been held once a month for many years, featuring some of Portland's finest jazz musicians.  The service is free (a goodwill offering is suggested), and all are welcome.  

Mike Horsfall - Mike Horsfall has enjoyed a successful musical career for over 40 years, serving as concert soloist, accompanist, musical director, educator, composer, arranger, and recording artist on both vibraphone and piano. In 2010 Horsfall was voted into the Oregon Jazz Society’s Hall of Fame as a member of the award winning trio, Tall Jazz, which he co-founded in 1989. He has performed and recorded with a diverse group of world class acts, including Ken Peplowski, Anat Cohen, Kurt Elling, Janis Siegel, Pink Martini, Valarie Day and Nu Shooz, the Portland Chamber Orchestra, Marv & Rindy Ross, Rebecca Kilgore, Marilyn Keller, and Darrell Grant, to name just a few. As a jazz educator, Horsfall has taught at Mt. Hood Community College, Clark College, and Oregon Episcopal School, and is currently on the music faculty at Willamette University.
