From: Black Health MattersSummit Addresses the Urgent Need for Disease Prevention and Management in Black Communities
Atlanta, GA — January 28, 2025 — Black Health Matters, a leading nonprofit health advocacy organization delivering essential health and wellness resources to Black communities, will host its 13th annual Winter 2025 Health Summit & Expo on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM EST at the Loudermilk Conference Center in Atlanta, Ga with virtual participation available for attendees nationwide. This free event is open to the general public and offers an unparalleled opportunity to engage with healthcare experts, access resources, and take charge of personal health and wellness.
Co-hosted by Dr. Rashad Richey, Dr. Maria Boynton, and Dr. Gregory Lunceford, the summit will feature healthcare professionals, advocates, and fitness experts addressing critical health disparities and empowering attendees with education and actionable solutions.
This year’s summit introduces a first ever clinical trials corner designed to demystify the clinical trials process and encourage participation, an essential step toward advancing health equity and ensuring that Black Americans have a seat at the table in groundbreaking medical research. Attendees will also have access to a Blueprint for Wellness Full Panel Blood Screening and other health assessments valued at over $1000—offered entirely free of charge.
Black Americans remain critically underrepresented in clinical trials, comprising only 5% of participants despite making up nearly 14% of the U.S. population. This lack of representation leads to inequities in treatment efficacy, missed opportunities for tailored medical breakthroughs, and continued health disparities. By launching the Clinical Trials Corner, Black Health Matters aims to bridge this gap, empowering attendees with knowledge, resources, and pathways to participate in research that reflects their unique health needs.
“Our summit isn’t just an event — it’s a call to action for Black communities to reclaim their health and rewrite their wellness stories,” said Roslyn Y. Daniels, Founder and CEO of Black Health Matters. “When we educate ourselves about health disparities and take charge of prevention and care, we empower generations to thrive. This is how we break cycles, build healthier futures, and ensure that equity in healthcare is no longer a distant goal, but a living reality.”
