Joe Turner's Come And Gone

Playwright: August Wilson

Director: Alphonso Walker, Jr.

Synopsis: The second installment of Wilson's 3-plays series chronicling the African-American experience across the 20th century. Set in Pittsburg, PA, 1911, the play follows protagonist Herald Loomis, who, after seven years' of forced labor on Joe Turner's chain gang, arrives at a black Pittsburgh boardinghouse as a free man. Although free, the mental scars of his enslavement and physical alienation during his imprisonment still oppress his spirit. He spends the bulk of his time trying to locate and reconnect with the family he was separated from when he was stolen. Through his encounters with the other residents he begins to realize that what he truly seeks is his rightful place in the world.

Synopsis: The Big Bad Wolf of The Boy who Cried Wolf, The Three Little Pigs, & Little Red Riding Hood, comes face-to-face with all of his prey as he slyly attempts to capture them all in one epically adventurous tale! Rated Festival Choice for Young Audiences ages 4-11 yrs.

The Proof Is In The Storage

Playwright: Adeleane Dixon

Synopsis: Xavier is on his way to college when he is racially profiled and accused of murder! The only proof of his innocence is locked in a storage owned by a mean and surly man who refuses to release the evidence because of past due payments on the unit. Xavier's entire future depends on those old video tapes.

Define Waffle

Playwright: Kimberley Mullins

Synopsis: A true story of a running incident gone wrong when one friend tries to support another training for an upcoming Half Iron Man Competition. Unfortunately, she was ill prepared. This play shows the audience the inner thoughts of one runner and how things can take an unfortunate turn when our ego gets ahead of us, and we don’t prepare properly.

The Closet: The War Room of God's Children

Playwright: Autrea Hepburn

Synopsis: Shanté is a vibrant, outgoing 25-year-old entrepreneur from Carolina who has a lot going for herself. Typically unbothered by the chaos of the world, one day while she channel surfs, the pressures of the world invade her peace. Immediately her mental, emotional, physical, financial and spiritual thought are disrupted. Alas, all is made right in the closet.

Soul of a Black Woman

Synopsis: Vashti is queen among her group of "chocolate girls," but the unity among these sistahs is tested when she publicly portrays her friends in error during her “One Woman Show”.
