Executive Director's Notes
By Fran?oise Rhodes
I promised February Chamber numbers and our records indicate we helped 698 people, I should probably have a missed number approximate because when we have a full Chamber all of us miss a person or two so I’m positive we were well over 700. In 2022 February our visitor count was 550, so a definite uptick.
The Chamber Mardi Gras Mixer was moved to 3/2 and a full house we had at Arches at the Borrego Springs Resort & Spa. President Clint Brandin announced the new scholarship program the Chamber Board of Directors is currently working on. Helping us to design a program we feel best fits educational needs of our community will be Miss Borrego Hannah Strate, First Princess Shantell Fuentes and Second Princess Alessandra Reyes, plus Mark Stevens, Superintendent Borrego Springs Unified School District. Also, a huge thank you to our raffle donors, the Anza Borrego Desert Natural History Association, Carlee’s, Borrego Spice and Olive Oil, Borrego Pool Supply, Borrego Outfitters, Red Ocotillo/Coyote Steakhouse and Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center.
The next March Madness Mixer is at the Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort –Bighorn Burgers & Shakes Saloon on March 23, 4 PM – 6 PM, you must RSVP to attend by calling the Chamber at 760-767-5555 or emailing [email protected]. RSVP deadline 5 PM on 3/20-Monday.
It looks like we are going to have another month of flowers spread throughout the valley, which I think we all prefer instead of a “superbloom.” Enjoy the beauty, but be careful on the roads as many of our visitors are used to signals every 50 yards;-)

Did You Know?
Antarctica is covered in a sheet of ice that's 7,000 feet thick.
For reference, that's about 19 football fields. The U.S. Antarctic Program also notes that if the ice sheet ever suddenly melted, it would raise the sea level worldwide an estimated 200 feet and submerge much of the Gulf and Atlantic coastal areas of the U.S.
