Brad Schimel Failed Wisconsin’s Women

Government and Politics

March 24, 2025

MADISON, Wis. — Throughout his career and over the course of his campaign for Wisconsin Supreme Court, far-right politician Brad Schimel has let Wisconsin women down. Schimel has shown a serious lack of urgency in protecting the safety of women in Wisconsin by allowing untested rape kits to sit idle, and by allowing violent offenders to get off scot-free.

In recent months, Brad Schimel has also thrown non-stop personal insults and attacks at the all-women majority of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Brad Schimel’s pattern of sexist behavior shows he could not care less what happens to women in Wisconsin. His record coupled with his dangerous agenda will have disastrous implications for all Wisconsinites—and that’s why Wisconsin will reject his extremism on April 1.

See more on Brad Schimel’s record of failing Wisconsin women:

  • Brad Schimel has made it clear that he wants to overturn reproductive freedom and supports Wisconsin’s 1849 abortion ban, which does not include exceptions for rape, incest, or the health of the mother.

  • As Wisconsin’s attorney general, Brad Schimel let 6,000 untested rape kits sit idle under his watch, delaying justice for sexual assault victims and allowing violent offenders to walk free. And as Waukesha County District Attorney, Schimel allowed 26 rape kits to remain untested.

  • Brad Schimel has a history of giving out light sentences to domestic abusers and being too soft on prosecuting child sexual assault crimes.

  • Brad Schimel has not held back on insulting the all women majority of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, claiming that four of the women justices are too “driven by their emotions” to remain objective. He also said the women justices were “on the brink of losing it” during oral arguments over Wisconsin’s 1849 criminal abortion ban and accused one justice of having “lost control of her emotions.”

  • Brad Schimel’s insults against the Wisconsin Supreme Court justices don’t stop there. Recent reporting unveiled Schimel’s campaign stump speech has included calling one of Wisconsin’s women justices “dumb as a sack of hammers” and another justice “addled” and “crazy.”
