In our last email we told you about the Stars and Stripes 5K event on the roads of Concord for July 4.  That event is always a good time and if you're looking to get in, we recommend you register ASAP to beat the price increase on Monday.

Only 4 days later we have a VERY different race: The Dirty Dozen, a 12-hour running party at Point Pinole with 12-hour, 6-hour and 3-hour divisions.  The race can be run as an individual or as a team of 2 or 3.

Instead of seeing how how little time you take to run a certain distance, you see how much distance you can get in a certain amount of time.

Participants run a full loop of 3.37 miles and then have the option of adding on extra mileage with a .42 mile loop during the final hour of their division.  People set-up their "base camp" at the start and run as much or little as they want. Stop and take a break at any point.  Have a nap, eat some lunch, hang out with friends, dance, play a board game.  Do whatever you like until the urge hits you to take another lap!

With BBQ for all participants and a relaxed, all-day party atmosphere, it's also a great chance for anyone to attempt to run a personal-longest distance without having to worry about any strict cut-offs.
