JANUARY 22ND - SUPPORT SYSTEMS EXHIBITION OPENING RECEPTION - LONGWOOD ART GALLERY

Join us for the highly anticipated Opening Reception of Support Systems on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Come to the first exhibition in the newly relocated Longwood Art Gallery at BCA Headquarters in Westchester Square (2700 East Tremont Avenue, Bronx, NY, 10461).

Support Systems challenges dominant cultural narratives, that celebrate American exceptionalism and capitalist individualism, featuring works from eight artists and one collective. The exhibition reflects on historical failures of the U.S. government, examines contemporary crises, and explores new possibilities for the future.

BCA is seeking a Bronx-based illustrator or visual artist for an exciting commission. The selected artist will create a one-color design for tote bags representing our organization. The application deadline has been extended to Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:59 PM.

HARLEM RIVER ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM

Join Us In Inspiring Action Through Art!

BCA is thrilled to partner with the Bronx and Harlem Rivers Urban Waters Federal Partnership (UWFP) and the New York-New Jersey Harbor & Estuary Program (HEP) to present the Harlem River Artist in Residence Program. This residency program invites artists from all disciplines to engage with the Harlem River community in exploring critical water and environmental issues, bringing fresh voices and perspectives to the forefront during this transformative residency experience.

The residency program offers:

- A total of $72,000 is available to the selected artist(s)

- A 13-month residency beginning in March 2025

- Opportunities to connect with and learn about the Harlem River and its community

- A chance to develop a cultural project that reflects the community, as well as the challenges and opportunities faced by these waterways

Interested artists must submit a Letter of Interest (LOI) by tomorrow, Friday, January 3, 2025, 11:59 PM.

BCA 2025 GRANT CYCLE

BCA is seeking artists, arts professionals, and nonprofit and community leaders to serve as panelists for our 2025 and future grant cycles.

Grants panelists review and score applications, provide invaluable panelist comments, and recommend recipients for funding. They play a key role in the grants process, and their knowledge and expertise are crucial in shaping the way funds are distributed. Potential panelists from all boroughs are welcome to apply, as BCA’s different grant programs require panelists from in and outside of the Bronx. BCA supports panel diversity in all forms: age, race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, artistic discipline, location, etc.

Selected panelists will be contacted during grant season. All panelists will receive a modest fee.

2024 BCA BRONX CULTURAL VISIONS FUND AWARDEES

di.vi.sion arts and education is a Bronx-based, 35-musician group founded by Kurt Briggs. The core group is the di.vi.sion piano trio: violinist Kurt Briggs, cellist Matt Goeke, and pianist Renée Cometa Briggs. The group's presentation of Five for the Planet features five works on the theme of global warming. Learn more.

Dilson is a Dominican-American performing artist from The Bronx. His talents include creative writing, playing various instruments, spoken-word poetry, singing, and digital production. Dilson's one-man show Bachatú combines stand-up comedy, live concerts, and traditional plays to create a multimedia theatrical experience reflecting the diversity of Dominican and U.S. cultures. Learn more.
