On Sunday, February 2, California Strong, powered by the Southeast Ventura County YMCA and in collaboration with Proactive Sports Performance and YMCA of the Foothills will distribute $150,000 to families whose homes were destroyed in the Palisades and Eaton fires. A large assortment of essential items, donated by over 70 different brands, will also be available to all fire victims at no cost.
Affected families receiving the funding went through an application process on California Strong’s website, www.californiastrong.org. The funds’ distribution and donation giveaway will be at Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA (1930 Foothill Blvd A, La Cañada Flintridge) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
California Strong was founded by the Southeast Ventura County YMCA following the 2018 Woolsey Fire. Since then, it has provided over $2.8 million in aid to more than 1,700 disaster victims across California. Recent efforts included assistance to families affected by the Mountain Fire in Camarillo, which destroyed more than 200 homes.
"One hundred percent of donations go directly to families affected by the fires," says Ronnie Stone, Southeast Ventura County YMCA president and CEO.
