N. EASTON – The Children’s Museum of Easton, a 501(c)3 non-profit, was awarded a $129,000 grant from the Cultural Facilities Fund (CFF) as part of a $6,159,900 investment into 88 nonprofit and municipal cultural organizations. CFF is jointly administered by Mass Development at www.massdevelopment.com and the Mass Cultural Council www.massculturalcouncil.org. “It is a great honor for the museum to be recognized in this way,” said Christine Santoro, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Easton (CME), “Not only does the grant provide us with much-needed funds to preserve the historical character of the museum, but it also shines a light on our mission to inspire a life-long love of learning through hands-on play.”
The grant will be spent on repairs to the roof, flashings, roof drainage systems, doors, windows, clapboard, and trim, as well as on painting the museum's exterior housed in a 1904 firehouse. Santoro said, “The Town of Easton entrusted the museum’s founders to preserve and maintain this historic building, and we are steadfast in honoring our commitment to the community.”
The grant is subject to a 1:1 match by the Children’s Museum of Easton. “We are very fortunate to be supported by generous individuals and organizations,” said Maggie Teller, Chair of the CME Board of Directors, “While the match requirement presents a challenge, we are incredibly grateful for the support of the CFF. We hope the opportunity will inspire new community members to become donors. This grant and community support will ensure CME continues to be an extraordinary and vibrant resource for families.”
