From: City Of BeverlyThe Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing beginning Monday, February 27, the navigable channel under the Kernwood Drawbridge will be closed to marine traffic Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each weekday. This closure is expected to last for two (2) weeks, ending on Friday, March 10. The navigable channel will be open to marine traffic between the hours of 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and weekends during normal operating hours.
The Kernwood Drawbridge is located on Kernwood Avenue over the Danvers River in Beverly and Salem. The drawbridge will remain open to roadway traffic during this time, but short-term lane closures may be necessary at times during the day. Those traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. If necessary, police details will be on site to guide traffic through the area.
This work is part of an ongoing $2.6 million district wide drawbridge operations and repair contract.
