The City of Blue Springs will hold its regular Municipal Election on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, to select three Councilmembers – one from each district:
-Councilmember – District 1 – three-year term
-Councilmember – District 2 – three-year term
-Councilmember – District 3 – three-year term
Starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, candidates may file to run for office during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays) in the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, 903 W. Main St. The candidate filing period ends at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022. City Hall will be closed for the Christmas holiday on Monday, Dec. 26.
The required Declaration of Candidacy Forms and instructions for filing procedures can also be picked up at the City Clerk’s office prior to filing.
A random number drawing process will be used to determine the placement of candidate names on the April 4, 2023, ballot. On Dec. 6, 2022, the first day of filing, candidates shall report to the Clerk’s office, submit their required filing documents, and draw a number. At the close of the first day of filing (5 p.m., Dec. 6, 2022), candidates who have filed for office that day shall have their names listed in ascending order of the numbers drawn. On the second day and through the last day of election filing on Dec. 27, 2022, the names of candidates shall be added in the order received.
Candidates who filed and wish to withdraw must appear in person before the City Clerk on or before 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, and formally deliver to the City Clerk a written withdrawal of their candidacy.
