Driving Safely in Bad Weather

Living in California allows us to enjoy a good number of ideal weather days. Nevertheless, there are weather conditions – rain, high winds, fog, snow, and bright sun, to name a few – that can severely affect driving conditions. January 2023 Plan Check and Permit Revenues

The City issued 175 building permits and received $128,479 in permit and plan check fees in January.  Total revenues through the seventh month of the fiscal year reached $889,529.  Permit activity thus far has outperformed the forecast at the beginning of the fiscal year, so staff is currently revising its revenue estimate for the remainder of the fiscal year as part of the midyear budget refinement process.

Wednesday Walkers and Healthy Diamond Bar Mash Up!

Join the Wednesday Walkers on February 22 for a Healthy Diamond Bar mash up at Sycamore Canyon Park. Check in on the ballfield at 9 a.m. to begin with a staff-lead stretch routine, followed by a walk around the perimeter of the park. There will be games, walking, refreshments, and giveaways. Special guest - Mayor Andrew Chou will be in attendance to walk with the group as part of his “Meet the Mayor” tour. Kajukenbo Karate Classes Start February  21

Learn self-defense techniques of Kajukenbo (Hawaiian Mixed Martial Arts that combines Karate, Judo, Jujitsu, Kenpo, and Kung Fu) while improving your physical fitness and building self-confidence. Sportball Classes are Back

Is your little one looking to experience a variety of sports or focus on just one? Sportball classes are the perfect fit. Whether you are looking to introduce a new activity or finetune your child’s skills, Sportball has just the class. Class offerings include soccer, basketball, football, volleyball, tennis, hockey, golf, and baseball. Classes start the last week of February, register online by clicking here

Free Smartphone Training for iPhone and Android

Need help using your smartphone? Look no further and sign up for a free 2-hour hands-on training sponsored by the California Telephone Access Program. Public Works Department

Grand Avenue and Golden Springs Intersection Improvement Project Update

The top deck of the precast concrete for the west tunnel has been completed. Full completion of the west tunnel is anticipated by the end of this month, followed by the construction of the east tunnel in the next couple of weeks. 

Hawkwood Road Neighborhood Traffic Management Program Project Update

Staff has been working with the residents in the Hawkwood Road area to address their traffic-related concerns. Meetings were held to introduce the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP) and a two-phase plan to implement the traffic-calming measures was decided upon. Phase 1 that included roadway striping was completed along Hawkwood Road the week of January 26.

Diamond Bar Center Slope Stabilization Project Update

Work on this project was completed on February 2, 2023. A final project walk is scheduled during the week of February 6, 2023. A punch-list will be prepared to address any pending items. 

Video and Photography Freelancer Wanted

Calling local creatives! If you are skilled at taking photos and creating videos, the City wants to hear from you!

The Public Information Division is recruiting for freelancers to work on a variety of photography assignments and video projects that support and enhance the City’s communication efforts.

This is an ideal opportunity for individuals looking to get involved in the community while building up their portfolio at the same time. Work will include project updates, business highlights, and event teasers and promos that will be used in marketing pieces, posted on the City website, aired on the City’s government access channel, added to the City’s YouTube video library, and shared on the City’s socials. Rates will be based on the assignment or project. 

Strong applicants will know and be proficient and comfortable working with standard video and photography equipment, and all aspects of video-making.
