From: City of FayettevilleFAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, Nov. 17, to celebrate the completion of the first phase of the Sain Street Extension project, which has connected E. Sain St. and N. Vantage Drive through the Mud Creek Trail Corridor.
As part of the connection, a roundabout was installed on Sain, and a bridge 320-feet long was constructed over Mud Creek.
The event will begin at 3 p.m. at the roundabout on Sain near the University of Arkansas Uptown Campus. Speakers will include Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan and Chris Brown, public works director for the City. After the event, the new stretch of road will be opened to traffic.
The second phase of this project will connect Sain to N. Hemlock Ave., which will be extended from its intersection with E. Millsap Rd. to intersect with Sain at the roundabout, creating a continuous route between N. College Ave. and E. Joyce Blvd. to provide an alternate route for east-west traffic.
Funding for the project came from an 80% federal grant awarded by the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission, matched with funds from the Street Improvement Projects Bond approved by Fayetteville residents as part of the 2019 Bond Package
