City Council appointed Nathan McLeland to fill the Ward III vacancy during their regular meeting on January 17. McLeland was selected from a field of eight applicants who were interviewed by Council during the meeting.

McLeland previously served the City of Gillette as a Ward III City Council member from January 2019 through January 3, 2023. He is the CEO/General Counsel for M & K Oil Company and resides in Gillette with his wife, Robbie, and their four children.

McLeland will serve in the position through January 7, 2025. The Ward III vacancy was created when Mayor Shay Lundvall took office after being elected in November 2022.
