From: City Of GlendaleMayor Jerry Weiers Welcomes Glendale Residents to Key Volunteer Service Appointments
Appointments to the Commission on Diverse Cultures, Library Advisory Board, and Community Development Advisory Committee Approved
Glendale. Ariz. - On August 22, 2023, Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers administered the Oath of Office to the appointees to the Commission on Diverse Cultures, Library Advisory Board, and Community Development Advisory Committee.
The Mayor and Council approved unanimously the appointments of:
- Robert Escobedo to the Commission on Diverse Cultures
- Oscar Gonzalez to the Community Development Advisory Committee
- Meegan Tosh to the Library Advisory Board
Mayor Weiers welcomed his appointees, Robert Escobedo and Meegan Tosh, to serve on the Commission on Diverse Cultures and the Library Advisory Board, respectively.
“It is vital to the overall health and welfare of our community to have resident involvement in the oversight and governance of the services our taxpayers fund. Equally important is the unique insight only dedicated Glendale residents can bring to our commissions and committees,” stated Mayor Weiers.
“With a Master of Library Science from the University of North Texas, Meegan comes to the Library Advisory Board with a wealth of experience and knowledge of public libraries. Her background should benefit the current Board as they navigate the changing demands on our library system and ensure that policy development reflects our community,” said Mayor Weiers.
“The City’s application for a position on various boards and commission asks applicants what the most important responsibility of a board or commission member is. Mr. Escobedo answered simply: “Ethics,” noted Mayor Weiers. “The perfect answer given that the Commission on Diverse Cultures is tasked with making recommendations to the City Council “on ways to encourage mutual respect and understanding among all people, to discourage prejudice and discrimination, and to support cultural awareness and unity of the community.”
