The City of Hollywood will be conducting a Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Meeting and Regular City Commission Meeting tomorrow, February 1st at City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Blvd Room 219. The CRA Meeting will be held at 9 a.m., with Citizens' Comments at the start of the meeting. The City Commission Meeting will be held at 1 p.m. 

The City offers in-person comments for Agenda Items, other than Presentations and Proclamations, with no registration required. The public is encouraged to participate in-person at City Hall, facial coverings are recommended for visitors and staff while inside the building.

Charter Review Committee Members Wanted

The City is seeking individuals interested in serving on the Charter Review Committee to review and make recommendations regarding the current City Charter. This volunteer advisory committee will meet on a monthly basis (with more meetings possible) and will be required to provide a report on its recommendations to the City Commission. All interested applicants must reside in the City of Hollywood and be registered to vote.

Orangebrook Evaluation Committee Meeting

Monday, February 6th at 9 a.m 

Applicants for the Orangebrook Golf and Country Club Redevelopment Project presented their proposals to the City Commission on January 18th. During the discussion, proposal modifications were presented by several applicants. As such, the Orangebrook Evaluation Committee will be meeting on Monday, February 6th at 9 a.m. at City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Boulevard, Room 219 to review the new information that was provided. Both in-person and virtual options are being offered.

New Privacy Wall Construction Project Underway on 46th Ave

As part of the City of Hollywood’s voter-approved General Obligation Bond, contractor MBR Construction, Inc. is installing 900 linear feet of precast concrete privacy wall along N 46th Ave. from N Hills Drive to Stirling Road. The wall will be constructed at the rear of the property in the public right-of-way. Crews will remove existing fencing and place a temporary fence until the new precast wall is completed. This is anticipated to take approximately two months. Temporary fencing will then be removed and the property will be restored to its original condition. Property owners are asked to assist crews by removing any personal belongings from the construction area.

Sheridan Street Bridge Over the Intracoastal Waterway - 

Nightly Full Closure  

The Sheridan Street Bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway will be closed nightly to vehicles and pedestrians beginning today, January 31st through Thursday, February 2nd between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The closure is necessary for crews to perform functional checks of the span. Eastbound and westbound traffic will be detoured to Hollywood Boulevard or Dania Beach Boulevard.

SB I-95 Full Closure in Hollywood 

I-95 southbound between Griffin Road and Stirling Road will be closed to all traffic tonight, Jan. 31 and Wednesday night, Feb. 1 for overhead sign structure installation operations. The first lane will close at 10 p.m., the second lane will close at 11 p.m., and all lanes will be closed by midnight, reopening by 5 a.m.

Motorists will be detoured via Griffin Road, US-1, and Stirling Road to the I-95 southbound entrance ramp. Thursday night, Feb. 2 will be used as a contingency, if needed. Florida Highway Patrol will be onsite to assist motorists. Plan your route accordingly to avoid delays.

FDOT Project Information

US1/Federal Highway FDOT Mobility Improvement Project

Construction is underway. Improvements planned include:

- Milling and resurfacing along the project limits

- Modifying pavement markings along SR-5/US-1/Federal Highway to accommodate 4-foot bicycle lanes in each direction

- Installing 138 new light poles and upgrading existing lighting to LED along the corridor

- Replacing concrete sidewalk with pavers from Monroe Street to Van Buren Street, and from Polk Street to Fillmore Street

- Removing existing pavers at signalized intersections between Van Buren Street and SR-824/Pembroke Road

- Installing decorative stamped asphalt crosswalks at all signalized intersections

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

- Lane closures are permitted Sunday through Thursday, between 10:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. and two-hour single lane closures are permitted between 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for concrete pours.

- Full side street closures are permitted on weekends for the construction of the decorative crosswalks.

- Business, pedestrian, and residential access will be maintained at all times.

North 26th Avenue (Taft to Sheridan) Resurfacing Project

The North 26th Avenue Resurfacing Project is underway along North 26th Avenue between Taft Street and Sheridan Street. Sidewalk repair and swale restoration, followed by the roadway milling and resurfacing work are currently taking place.  

This construction project includes swale restoration, milling and resurfacing of the existing road, new pavement markings, and sidewalk replacement within the project boundaries. 
Access to private property will be maintained, however driveway access will be limited following a concrete pour to allow for the concrete to cure. To accommodate the inconvenience, temporary parking in the swale area adjacent to private property will be permitted while driveway access is temporarily closed. Closures are not expected to last longer than 48 hours.

Liberty Street Surtax Rehabilitation and Maintenance Construction Project Underway

Construction is underway along Liberty Street between North Park Road and North 31st Road, as well as on a section of North 31st Road just south of Liberty Street. This construction project includes storm drain upgrades, swale restoration, milling and resurfacing of the existing road, new pavement markings, and sidewalk replacement within the project boundaries. The work is scheduled to take place through February 2023. 

Access to private property will be maintained, however driveway access will be limited following a concrete pour to allow for the concrete to cure. In order to accommodate the inconvenience, temporary parking in the swale area adjacent to private property will be allowed while driveway access is temporarily closed. Closures are not expected to last longer than 48 hours.
