Lifesaving Training Courses

The City of Hollywood Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) offers exciting opportunities to attain CERT and CPR training. Hollywood CERT nstructors are hosting a four-hour CPR training course on Saturday, February 18th from 8 a.m. to noon at the Boulevard Heights Community Center, 6770 Garfield Street in Hollywood. The class is a great, inexpensive opportunity to learn CPR. The volunteers who teach the class are requesting a $12 donation from each student to cover the cost of the CPR certification card, which is valid for two (2) years. The class size is limited to 20 students. Minimum participant age is 12 years old.

CERT trainers will also host a six-week CERT class from Tuesday, February 28th through Thursday, April 13th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Driftwood Community Center, 3000 NW 69 Avenue in Hollywood. This course teaches students about light fire suppression (e.g., how to properly use a fire extinguisher), search and rescue, medical triage, and other basic life-saving skills. The class is free of charge. The class size is limited to 23 students. Minimum participant age is 16 years old.

Anyone interested in participating in one or both of these courses should email Jaime Hernandez, Emergency and Governmental Affairs Manager, at [email protected]. Please include the student’s first and last name, cell phone number and email address in the email.
