Holiday Closures

As a reminder, in observance of the New Year's Holiday, Broward County and City Administrative offices will be closed on Monday, January 2nd. Online services, including payment and library services remain available. Check the City's online services here.

Broward County Libraries are closed Sunday, January 1st and Monday, January 2nd.

Parks and Recreational Facilities
All Broward County operated regional and neighborhood parks, nature centers, and natural areas will be closed on the 1st and 2nd.

All Community Centers, Boggs Field, Dowdy, Driftwood Athletic Complex, Driftwood Community Pool, Police Athletic League, and the Washington Park Athletic Field will be closed on the 31st, 1st and 2nd.

All City-operated passive parks, Hollywood West and Rotary Park will be open from sunrise to sunset on the 31st, 1st and 2nd.

Garbage Collection
Garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk waste materials collection service will be provided on a normal schedule through the holiday.

Sun Shuttle Holiday Schedule 
- New Year's Eve: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
- New Year's Day: 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.

A ride on the Sun Shuttle is $2 per person, per ride. For the most immediate service to request a ride, download the "Ride Circuit" App from the App Store or Google Play. For those with a more flexible schedule, you may also wave down the nearest Sun Shuttle fleet driver or head to a designated shuttle stop. TriRail
Tri-Rail trains will be operating on a weekend schedule on Sunday, January 1st. The Customer Experience Call Center will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weekend Schedule

Broward County Transit
Broward County Transit will operate a holiday service schedule on Sunday, January 1st. Administrative offices will be closed, however Customer Service Representatives will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at 954-357-8400.

Friday Night Movie at ArtsPark

Friday, December 30th

Bring the kids to the ArtsPark at Young Circle in downtown Hollywood this Friday! The ArtsPark venue includes open green space, a playground, SplashPad, and a Visual Arts Pavilion that hosts live glass blowing demonstrations. The free movie begins at 8 p.m. at the Amphitheater. This week's feature is "Star" (PG).

As a reminder, this venue is plastic and foam-free. Single-use plastics and Styrofoam containers are prohibited at the ArtsPark, including plastic bottles and bags.

Haitian Independence Day Celebration

Sunday, January 1, 2023
Noon - 4:00pm

State Representative Marie Woodson and the City of Hollywood invite you to the 2nd Annual Haitian Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, January 1, 2023 from noon until 4:00 p.m. at the Boulevard Heights Community Center, 6770 Garfield Street. Chip-a-Tree Tree Recycling

The annual Chip-a-Tree program is happening Monday, December 26th through Monday, January 16, 2023. Add your tree to the thousands of others to be recycled into mulch & used at Broward County parks. Youth Basketball League - Register Now

Registration is now open for a Youth Basketball League at Washington Park and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. The season runs January through March, and the league is for ages 5 through 12. Visit the Youth Sports website for more information on registration, evaluation dates and program cost.

Application Portal Opens: January 9-22, 2023

The City of Hollywood is launching the 4th cohort of its free FastTrac® Start-Up Program to assist entrepreneurs and business owners in Hollywood. Designed to guide early-stage entrepreneurs to launch a business, the FastTrac® Start-Up Program also helps existing businesses develop a plan around new product lines and services. The program culminates on Graduation Day with an exciting Pitch Competition. The FastTrac Start-Up Program is in-person at no cost to participants.

Participants will develop a clear business concept and learn how to:

- Identify market needs
- Explore risk and success factors
- Build a solid business plan
- Create an elevator pitch
- Understand business fundamentals
- Network with entrepreneur professionals
- Access business, financial and human resources

Business Owners With The Top Three Business Plans Will Compete For Seed $$$ Grants To Launch Their Businesses!

Plastic and Foam Free 

Single-Use Plastics and Foam are Prohibited on Hollywood Beach, at City-Owned Parks and Facilities, and by City Vendors

The City of Hollywood is committed to reducing our environmental impact and becoming more sustainable. One step the City has taken in achieving this goal is to ban the use of nonbiodegradable containers, like plastics and expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), for serving food products.

If you're planning on going to the beach or park or attending an event or meeting at City Hall, a community center, park, ArtsPark at Young Circle, or other city facility, please don't bring plastic bottles, bags and other single-use plastics and foam containers.
