Friday Night Movie at ArtsPark
Friday, January 13th
Bring the kids to the ArtsPark at Young Circle in downtown Hollywood this Friday! The ArtsPark venue includes open green space, a playground, SplashPad, and a Visual Arts Pavilion that hosts live glass blowing demonstrations. The free movie begins at 8 p.m. at the Amphitheater. This week's feature is "The Incredibles" (PG).
As a reminder, this venue is plastic and foam-free. Single-use plastics and Styrofoam containers are prohibited at the ArtsPark, including plastic bottles and bags.

Weekend Celebration
MLK Day FUN DAY - Friday, January 13th
The Annual MLK Fun Day takes place on Friday, January 13th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 2400 Charleston Street. Activities to include free games and activities, bounce houses, refreshments and more.
Tribute Concert at the ArtsPark - Saturday, January 14th
Grammy nominated artists Magic Mojo Ike and Lady Val will be performing on Saturday, January 14th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the ArtsPark Amphitheater at Young Circle in downtown Hollywood. The Miami based Blues Duo has performed throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean electrifying their audiences with high energy yet soulful Blues performances. The concert is free, please note this venue is plastic and foam-free. Single-use plastics are prohibited at the park.

Art in the Atrium
Arts & Craft Exhibition and Fair
Saturday, January 14th
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The free event takes place at the Fred Lippman Community Center at 2030 Polk Street. Artists and creatives are invited to exhibit their hand-crafted items. Register your attendance by calling 954.921.3408
Hollywood Beach Sweep
Saturday, January 14th
Help keep Hollywood Beach beautiful by volunteering for the Hollywood Beach Sweep Clean-Up on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 7 – 11 a.m. at Charnow Park, 300 Connecticut Street and the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk. Volunteers meet to collect litter and cigarette butts from the sandy beach. Volunteers are asked complete the registration form found on the City’s website. Children ages 8 and older are welcome to participate when accompanied by an adult. Gloves and garbage bags are provided to all volunteers along with safety instructions. Remember to dress appropriately, wear sunscreen and bring a completed registration form with you.
Reminder: Hollywood Beach is plastic/foam free. Please bring a reusable water bottle.
Holiday Closures
As a reminder, in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, Broward County and City Administrative offices will be closed on Monday, January 16th. Online services, including payment and library services remain available. Check the City's online services here.
Parks and Recreational Facilities
All Community Centers, Boggs Field, Dowdy, Driftwood Athletic Complex, Driftwood Community Pool, Police Athletic League, and the Washington Park Athletic Field will be closed on Monday, January 16th.
All City-operated passive parks, Hollywood West and Rotary Park will be open from sunrise to sunset on Monday, January 16th.
Regular City Commission
and CRA Meetings
Wednesday, January 18th
The City of Hollywood will be conducting a Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Meeting and Regular City Commission Meeting on Wednesday, January 18th at City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Blvd Room 219. The CRA Meeting will be held at 9 a.m., with Citizens' Comments at the start of the meeting. The City Commission Meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Citizens' Comments will take place at 5 p.m.
The City offers in-person comments for Agenda Items, other than Presentations and Proclamations, with no registration required. An option to offer a public comment via telephone is available for the Citizens' Comments Agenda Item. Registration is required to participate via telephone; please use the link below to register. The registration form must be received by noon on the Tuesday prior to the meeting. Requests received after this time will not be honored. The public is encouraged to participate in-person at City Hall, facial coverings are recommended for visitors and staff while inside the building.

COVID Memorial
The City of Hollywood is seeking to commission one artist or artist team to design, fabricate and install a site-specific Memorial to recognize those lost to COVID; and to honor the Health Workers and First Responders who dedicated their lives to the care of COVID patients. The memorial should be a place for reflection and remembrance. Learn more information here.
Chip-a-Tree Tree Recycling

Calling all Entrepreneurs & Business Owners!
The application portal is open! The City, in partnership with Kauffman FastTrac®, is accepting applications for its FastTrac® Start-Up Program to help guide early-stage entrepreneurs and business owners in Hollywood with tools to refine their business concept, identify the components of a strong business plan, and access the appropriate resources for launch. This program will also assist existing businesses in developing a strategy around new lines of products and services.
Participants will develop a clear business concept and learn how to:
- Identify market needs
- Explore risk and success factors
- Build a solid business plan
- Create an elevator pitch
- Understand business fundamentals
- Network with entrepreneur professionals
- Access business, financial and human resources
The FastTrac Start-Up Program is in-person at no cost to participants. Space is limited. Interested participants must submit a complete application online by January 22 at 11:59 p.m. for this competitive process.

Operation Paintbrush
Saturday, January 21
The Department of Public Works is holding Operation Paintbrush on Saturday, January 21st from 8 a.m. until noon. The Operation Paintbrush Program provides up to 20 gallons of high-quality exterior latex paint for free to single-family homeowners and non-profit organizations in Hollywood. 100% of the latex paint collected through the Broward County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program is recycled into new, high-quality exterior paint which is then provided to participating cities at no cost. Paint can be picked up at the Department of Public Works, 1600 S. Park Road in Hollywood beginning at 8 a.m. Distribution is on a first-come, first-served basis while the City's supply lasts. To participate, you must provide your current driver’s license with Hollywood address and a current utility bill as proof of Hollywood residency. The paint colors offered are off-white, beige, terracotta, gray, and turquoise.

The City of Hollywood is committed to reducing our environmental impact and becoming more sustainable. One step the City has taken in achieving this goal is to ban the use of nonbiodegradable containers, like plastics and expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), for serving food products.
If you're planning on going to the beach or park or attending an event or meeting at City Hall, a community center, park, ArtsPark at Young Circle, or other city facility, please don't bring plastic bottles, bags and other single-use plastics and foam containers.
