City of Livonia - Chipper Services Have Resumed Early For The 2023 Season

Government and Politics

March 7, 2023

From: City of Livonia

Chipper service for brush and branch disposal has resumed early for the 2023 season due to the volume of damaged trees from the latest storms. Branches and limbs must be longer than four feet in length. Branches should be stacked with all of the cut ends in one direction, preferably towards the street, for chipper service. Crews are going through each section right now, but it will be a slow go! Please have patience. We will get to everyone as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding.

From now until Memorial Weekend, it is not necessary to request service. Chipper crews continually circulate through neighborhoods approximately every fifteen working days. Stumps, logs, vines or roots cannot be placed out for chipper disposal. June through September requests must be submitted when your brush is at the curb and may be done by calling the Department of Public Service at (734) 466-2655, choosing the brush option and leaving a voicemail with your address, or emailing your brush request.

Yard waste pickup resumes the week of March 27. Brush and branches may also be disposed of on your weekly trash collection day provided it is broken down and placed in garbage cans, paper compost bags or tied into bundles of less than four feet in length and less than fifty pounds. There is a limit of five bundles per week. Separated yard waste collection service in containers or bundles will continue on your regular trash collection day through the week of Dec. 4.

Livonia residents may dispose of wood waste for free at the Wood Waste Disposal Facility on Glendale Avenue east of Farmington Road.  For more information, please visit our Wood Waste Disposal Facility webpage.

Our apologies if you have received multiple emails regarding the chipper service. In an effort to be sure we reach as many residents as possible, we have sent this message to several different email lists. If you receive it more than once, it is because you have subscribed to more than one City alert. Please disregard any duplicate emails. Thank you for your understanding!
