Celebrate Black History Month with History Lecture Series at Greenmead

Stop by Greenmead Historical Park's Alexander Blue House 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, for the second program in our History Lecture Series, "Tales Here and Now: Black History Stories." This is a FREE program, no registration required as we celebrate Black History Month.

Gwen Lewis is an interactive storyteller who encourages audience participation through her compelling performances. Many of her stories enhance character building, and are stories of kindness. Come listen to stories of the past and present.

Celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday March 5 at The Rec

One craft, two craft, three craft, more? Cat hats, Lorax candy trees, handprints, stories to make you roar! Join us in saying Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss1-2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at the Kirksey Recreation Center. 

Geared toward ages 4-7, this craft-filled party will have children enjoying Dr. Seuss stories while making their own "Cat in the Hat" hats, mini cotton candy Tuffula trees a la "The Lorax," and more! Register in advance.

Sangsu Kim Earns January Aquatic Team Member Recognition

Congratulations to Sangsu Kim for being January’s inaugural recipient of the new Aquatic Team Member of the Month award!

Sangsu joined our team as a lifeguard in May 2022 and has many years of lifeguard experience before joining our team. He is an exemplary team member, has an attention for detail, is always polite and courteous to others, and provides exceptional care to guests.

Sangsu became a lifeguard because he enjoys helping others and keeping swimmers safe. When Sangsu isn’t working as a lifeguard, he enjoys eating ribs and spending time with his family; often watching movies with his daughter and swimming at The Rec. We are proud to have Sangsu on our team!
