Healthy Livonia's 100 Days to Health Just Five Days Away!

We’re less than one week away from the Healthy Livonia 100 Days to Health! It’s a great way to test out a variety of group fitness classes for a low price while working to improve your health at a time where many are starting to trail off from their fitness-focused New Years resolutions.

Make sure to sign up in advance to attend the kickoff event 9-11:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Kirksey Recreation Center.

Celebrate Women's History Month by Dining With Yesterday and Rosie the Riveter

Head to the Alexander Blue House at Greenmead Historical Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, to take a step back in time to the 1940s for a dynamic presentation from Jeannette Gutierrez of the American Rosie the Riveter Association’s Willow Run Chapter. This inaugural “Dining with Yesterday” presentation will highlight the breadth of Rosie’s contributions in Michigan and beyond in celebration of Women’s History Month.

Advance registration is required, as lunch and dessert are included for the $30 per resident cost ($35 per non-resident).

Learn Lifesaving CPR, AED, First Aid Skills and More at The Rec

Are you a lifeguard needing a training review, wanting to train other lifeguards or review your existing instructor abilities? Or are you a local resident who either wants to become a lifeguard, or just learn the basics of Adult + Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid for your own knowledge and the safety of those around you?

Whichever of these categories you fall into, we have an array of courses coming up to help teach you how to save a life if the moment calls on you to do so. Great for babysitters, educators, parents, existing lifeguards or anyone really.

Check out the course times and details - and register - here. All courses take place at the Kirksey Recreation Center. Several classes are available beginning March 11 and throughout the spring/summer. Contact Nayrilis at [email protected] with any questions.

Livonia Spree Seeking New Executive Director Immediately

The Livonia Anniversary Committee is looking for a new executive director for the first time in 50 years! Have you always enjoyed the Livonia Spree and had great ideas on how to make it even better? Now is your chance!

The executive director oversees the operation, administration and planning of the Livonia Spree under the direction of the Board of Directors. Defines the goals, success metrics and messaging for Spree. Implements best practices and develops planning standards and procedures. Additionally, works with well-established vendors while developing new contacts to ensure the highest standards are met.

We’re aiming to fill this year-round contract position in March to prepare for the June event. The pay range is $30,000-$50,000 annually with an expectation of averaging 10-20 hours per week, with additional hours expected the week before, during and after the Spree week.
