City Holds 2^nd Annual PayDay! and Mars Hill Concert

2nd Annual Play Day! and free concert on Saturday, March 25 at Midlothian Community Park Phase 2, 3601 S. 14^th Street, 6 to 10 p.m. Come experience all the amenities of the park, as well as the first free concert of the year, featuring Mars Hill Band. A family-fun event, bring your own equipment or use ours to try out basketball, tennis, pickleball, and sand volleyball courts, and the fishing pond.  The splash pad and universal playgrounds also will be open. Enjoy free giveaways and refreshments (while supplies last). Concert starts at 8 p.m., when the popular Mars Hill band will take the amphitheater stage to perform 80s and 90s pop hits.  Bring chairs and blankets to sit on the great lawn. This event is being made possible by our presenting sponsor, Methodist Midlothian Medical Center and the Midlothian Community Development Corporation. 

Master Naturalists Offer Nature Walks

Wildflower Nature Walk, Saturday, March 18, 9 to 10:30 a.m., Mockingbird Nature Trail, 1361 Onward Road. Learn about the indigenous plants and wildlife of the Texas prairie at a free, ½-mile nature walk led by the Texas Master Naturalists Indian Trail Chapter of Navarro and Ellis Counties. Comfortable, outdoor clothing, closed-toe shoes, and insect repellent recommended. All ages are welcome but know that the walking surface is unpaved. Walks are cancelled in the event of rain. Visit the City's website for information about this and other nature activities.

Egg Hunt for Kids Up to 12 Years

Community Egg Hunt, Saturday, April 1, 10 a.m. sharp, Midlothian Community Park baseball fields, 3601 S. 14^th Street (note the new location). Join us for a fun scramble to collect toy-filled eggs and prizes scattered across the baseball fields. Children are organized by age groups, beginning with age 2 and younger through 11- and 12-year-olds. There also is a new “inclusive” hunt area for people with special needs. The Egg Hunt begins promptly at 10 o'clock, so arrive early to allow time to park and find the field for your age group. Bring your baskets to carry the eggs. Mr. & Mrs. Bunny will be available for photos following the hunt.  In case of rain, the hunt will be rescheduled to April 7 at 10 a.m. The Egg Hunt is made possible by our sponsors Midlothian Community Development Corporation and Methodist Midlothian Medical Center. 

Kids' Crafty Saturday Offered for Elementary School Children

Scheduled for April 15, 11 a.m. to 12 noon, this is a free, fun event for 1st-5th graders held at A.H. Meadows Library, 923 S. 9^th Street (inside Midlothian High School). Includes spring-themed crafts, story time, and snacks. Space is limited to 30 participants, so sign-up quickly. 

StoryTots! Offered at A.H. Meadows Library

StoryTots! at A.H. Meadows Library, 923 S. 9^th Street (inside Midlothian High School) is held every Wednesday and Thursday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. through May 18^th (except the week of March 12). Wednesday and Thursday sessions provide identical preschool story and craft programs. Class size is limited to 20 participants.  Registration is required.  

Bi-Annual Spring CleanUp Event

Spring CleanUp Day Event, Saturday, April 8, 8 a.m. to 12 Noon.  Residents may drop off non-hazardous, household waste items at the Public Works Service Yard, 1050 N. Highway 67 (proof of residency required).  Items accepted include brush, furniture, appliances (refrigerant removal provided), documents for shredding, off-rim tires (car, light, truck, semi-truck; NOT farm, tractor, or heavy equipment tires), electronics such as, hair dryers, curling irons, keyboards, computer monitors, speakers, radio receivers, hand-held gaming devices, and televisions.  Projector TVs can be recycled for a $1 per-square-inch charge (cash and correct change accepted only) or disposed of for free. Tube-style televisions cannot be thrown away but can be recycled for the fee of $1 per screen inch.  The vendor who recycles televisions accepts payment in cash and correct change only. No household hazardous waste products such as, oils, chemicals, or car batteries are accepted at this event, but can be dropped off at a Hazardous Waste Collection Event on May 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Public Works Service Yard.
