Winter Storm Update

Forecasters predict a strong winter storm impacting Marin beginning tonight into Friday with showers lingering into Saturday. Rainfall totals will range from 1.5 to 4 inches with prolonged moderate to heavy precipitation. Moderate to heavy rain will lead to rapid rises of area rivers, streams, and creeks. Localized ponding of water in low-lying or poorly drained areas as well as localized flooding is possible due to blocked culverts, drainages, and storm drains. Prepare today and check here for resources (sandbags, traffic, power outages, and more).

Join The Semi-Annual NRG Time Change Drill - On Sunday, March 12th at 10am, Neighborhood Response Groups across Marin County will take part in the semi-annual OK/HELP drill. This exercise helps practice how your neighborhood would react after a disaster that doesn't require evacuation. Learn more abut the drill.

Attend SMFD's Hands-Only CPR Event For FREE - Join Southern Marin Fire District and the Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club on Thursday, April 6th at 1:00PM for a FREE CPR instruction. This will be a great opportunity to learn how and when to call 911, how to use an AED, and how to do hands-only CPR. Council Election Update - Thank you to everyone that voted in the March 7 Mill Valley City Council election! Election results can be found here. The County of Marin estimates the certification will be complete towards the end of March. The new Councilmember will be sworn in at the City Council meeting on April 3, 2023.

East Blithedale Avenue Construction Update - Argonaut Constructors plan to begin their paving work on Sycamore Avenue and East Blithedale Avenue within the next several weeks. Paving projects require five days of dry weather prior to paving, so the specific dates for this project are weather dependent and still to be determined. Check out the latest news on East Blithedale here.

Downtown Project Update - Phase 3 of the Downtown Project involves removing and replacing concrete sidewalks, installing ADA curb ramps, widening the median island at Lytton Square to improve the health of the existing redwood trees, widening the sidewalk on Miller Avenue, and paving Throckmorton from Corte Madera Avenue to Old Mill School and Miller from Sunnyside Avenue to Throckmorton Avenue. The latest Downtown Project Update is here.

Planning Commission Adopts Resolution on Housing Element

At their February 28, 2023 meeting, the Planning Commission passed a Resolution recommending that the City Council adopt the Housing Element. The Housing Element contains comprehensive and practical housing policies and programs that address General Plan goals. Learn more about the Housing Element.

1 Hamilton News - The City has partnered with EAH Housing to develop approximately 40-50 low-income rental apartments at the northern portion of 1 Hamilton. City planners and the EAH Housing Team are in the process of assembling information based on City Council and Planning Commission direction.
