In Texas, all children younger than eight years old, unless they are taller than 4 feet 9 inches, must be secured in a child safety seat. This is for the safety and well-being of the child.
Car seats, when used properly, can save lives. It is important to always buckle up and use the proper seat for your child.
If you need assistance, TxDOT offers free car seats and Texas DSHS also has a program known as Safe Riders: https://www.dshs.texas.gov/the-office-injury-prevention/safe-riders/child-safety-seat-distribution
