Elected Mayor Bill Peake and Councilmembers Joe Amelio, Debby Beck, and Lori McDonnell receiving their Oaths of Office from Deputy City Clerk Kerry Lindstrom.
Actions taken by the City Council Regular meeting on December 7, 2022, include
-Ratified Resolution No. 21-029 Emergency Teleconferencing authorizing remote teleconference meetings of all City legislative bodies for the following 30 days in accord with the Ralph M. Brown Act
-Approved a resolution declaring the results of the November 8, 2022, General Election
-Oaths of Office administered by the Deputy City Clerk to our elected Mayor and Council Members
-Outgoing Council Members McAdams and Tomlinson received certificates
-Received Minutes of the November 16, 2022 City Council Special and Regular Meetings
-Adopted a resolution supporting the Blue Zones Project Monterey County
-Adopted a resolution in support of Net Energy Metering and transmit copies to Governor Gavin Newsom, State Senator Nancy Skinner, Assemblymember Buffy Wicks, and members of the California Public Utilities Commission Board (CPUC)
-Held second reading and adopted an ordinance amending the salary classification schedule, modifying the salary range for Cashier, Intern, Lighthouse Docent Coordinator, Recreation Assistant I, Recreation Assistant II, and Recreation Supervisor; and approving the amendment
-Held second reading and adopted an ordinance amending the Fiscal Year 2022-23 Operating and Capital Improvement Budget
-Received the DEI November 8, 2022 agenda report with Governor Newsom's Executive Order N-16-22 Attachment
-Received Monterey-Salinas Transmit Meeting Minutes of October 17, 2022
-Received report of emergency directives/modifications
-Adopted the proposed schedule of City Council Meetings for 2023 and 2024, adding a Council Goals meeting for January 25, 2023, and a Budget Workshop for March 8, 2023
-Authorized an agreement with Scudder Roofing for the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History Roof Repair Project in an amount not to exceed $49,285 plus a 20% contingency
-Approved appointments to regional boards and endorse liaisons effective immediately
-Received Beautification and Natural Resources Commission Minutes: August 16, 2022 and September 20, 2022
-Received Traffic Safety Commission Meeting Minutes: October 22, 2022
-Selected a Mayor Pro Tempore in accordance with the Charter through nominations from City Council and approved Councilmember Smith as Mayor Pro Tem for a term of two years
-Voted to direct the City Attorney to return with a draft ordinance to amend Chapter 2.05 of the Pacific Grove Municipal Code codifying the role and appointment of the Mayor pro tempore.
-Received a presentation of the Council Goals and Tactics Section of the City's new transparency software
-Received Small Business Recovery Action Plan report and provided the Economic Development Commission with feedback regarding the report’s recommendations
-Voted to direct the City Manager and City Attorney to create a cannabis license program to authorize one cannabis retail license under the following conditions:
Location may be determined following award of license and subject to restrictions described in Nov. 8 general election Measure M.
Objective license conditions.

The next Regular City Council Meeting is scheduled for December 21, 2022.

The City of Pacific Grove is exploring the use of large, vacant retail spaces for a “Makers Space” or “Craftsmen Collective,” envisioned to be a privately-owned dynamic and interconnected retail space where a variety of artisans, creatives, makers, and entrepreneurs sublease space to showcase their talent and sell locally made goods/services in one large, shared space.

New legislation for ADU's goes into effect in January 2023: AB 2221 and AB 2011. In order to keep up with State law, the City updated ADU guidance that can be found here.
