Museum of Natural History Roof Repair - Nearing Completion
In late January 2023, contractors began the roof repair project at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History. The project addresses the deteriorated roof on the Central Avenue facing side of the Bird Room. Over the years, this section of roof infrastructure significantly deteriorated, causing several leaks.
This project allows the City to make the much-needed repairs to this segment of the roof. The scope of work includes:
- Remove the existing clay tile roof (~2,784 SF)
- Salvage tiles for re-use
- Install a waterproof membrane over the entire roof deck
- Reinstall clay tiles
The project is now 90% complete! It is anticipated that the project will conclude at the end of next week.
Clock Tower Maintenance Work Continues!
In January 2023, the City embarked on maintenance of the City Hall Clock Tower. Contractors are currently in the process of completing the much-needed maintenance tasks. The scope of work includes: repainting of the faded dials using specialized high quality weather resistant paint, servicing and testing of all mechanical components, and replacing the cracked glass on one of the dials.
Check out one of the partially repainted dials, above!
Cold Mix Patching
Over the last month, the City's Public Works Street Crews used over 1 ton of cold mix to patch potholes at various locations citywide. After a significant rainfall event, we typically see an uptick in potholes due to surface water loosening deteriorated segments of asphalt pavement sections. Our crews are quick to address the known deficiencies by patching the potholes are they are spotted and reported.
Check out the before and after photos! Notice a pothole? Report it to the Public Works via our Citizen Request portal: https://pacificgroveca.qscend.com/311/request/add
