Here’s a recap of recent City Council meetings and some decisions you might want to know about:
- On Oct. 11, 2022, City Council approved a not-to-exceed $303,247 contract – $175,000 of which will be paid for by grant funds – for the creation of a city-wide evacuation/re-entry plan that will use traffic data to inform the evacuation process and routes. The completed plan is expected by May 2023.
- On Oct. 11, 2022, City Council approved a construction contract for the first phase of the Navoti Road to Dry Creek shared use path project. The path is expected to be completed by April 2023.
- On Oct. 12, 2022, City Council heard an update on Sedona in Motion projects. Here were the highlights:
- On Oct. 25, 2022, City Council heard an update on the Yavapai County Final Mile Broadband Initiative, in which they were informed the project will not include Sedona. Optimum did state however that they have a goal to upgrade Sedona with broadband service in two to three years.
- On Oct. 25, 2022, City Council approved the purchase of 2250 Shelby Drive for $1,500,000. The City has identified the property for a workforce housing development.
- On Oct. 25, 2022, City Council authorized the proposed microtransit fares of $6 regular one-way and $3 discounted one-way, in addition to a discounted 12 trip multi-ride pass option (listed as Option B on page 58 of the Council Packet). These proposed fares will now go through a 60-day public comment period and another public meeting will be held, before Council will finalize adoption.

For the past three years, the City has been using an organic weed control and prevention spray product. Mirimichi is a natural alternative herbicide to traditional weed killer products. The City switched from the previous product because residents requested a natural alternative, and it contributes to a more sustainable Sedona. Learn more by watching this video.
