From: City of SeymourStreet Dept Paves the Way for Better Roads
David Mailhos with the City of Seymour Street Development is filling in a pot hole on North Tackitt Street. The Street Department spent all day on Monday filling in potholes around town. The week’s priorities consisted of potholes and trimming trees on City Streets.
Besides filling potholes, the Street Department spent time trimming trees around town that can partially block roads and minimize visibility of street signs and traffic. Pictured above is Shaun Teel and David Mailhos on North Cedar and West 13th Street trimming a tree.
Our Vision
Our vision is that Seymour will continue its legacy as a friendly, outgoing community embracing its natural beauty while providing a safe, peaceful, and progressive environment to live, work and play. Its spirit of community and small-town charm will be enjoyed by a strong and active multi-generational population.
Department Reports
The Street Department as reported by Supervisor Ronnie Kolacek remained productive in spite of the rainy and cold weather this week. The Street Department spent a full day filling in potholes and several days trimming trees. On the rainy days the department was patrolling street drainage and cleaned clogged drainage holes and serviced equipment.
City of Seymour Police Department Chief Griffin reported they assisted probation with an home inspection, assisted the adult protection service with a welfare check, and responded and mediated three domestic disputes. The department investigated two property crime reports and performed additional patrol for the storage facilities in town.
Over the course of the last week, the Reverse Osmosis Plant under the supervision of John Davis produced 3.3 million gallons of treated water that was distributed to the City of Seymour and Baylor County Special Utility District. During the week plant operators monitored the chlorine levels at points throughout the distribution system, monitored the amount of wastewater discharged from the plant, took daily readings on the primary RO trains, completed the annual Tier II Chemical Report for TCEQ, and collected the samples that are used to compile the annual drinking water report.
The Water Department supervisor Chase Hoyt reported the department responded to multiple work orders including line detections, turn on and offs, and checking sewer line flowage. The Water Department flushed fire hydrants on the dead-end water lines to improve water quality and rodded several sewer lines that had blockage. The department fixed a leak on the sand pipe up on the hill, repaired multiple water meters, and dosed the lift station with certified chemicals to improve flow.
The City of Seymour Electric Department under the supervision of Anthony Arjes conveyed his department performed two disconnects of service, changed out a breaker box at the dog pound, and cleaned/organized material supplies at the department’s facility. Electric Department employee John Joyce spent the week at transfer school with the Texas Electric Cooperative in Livingston, Texas.
