Crickets from Andrew Clyde as Donald Trump and Elon Musk Permanently Close Gainesville Social Security Office

Government and Politics

Sen. Warnock: “I’ve worked to protect Georgians from bad actors looking to take advantage of seniors, and this is no different.”

Georgia Republican Congressman Andrew Clyde (GA-09) remains silent in the wake of Elon Musk’s DOGE committee announcing the closure of the Gainesville Social Security office in his district. Clyde has been a vocal champion of DOGE slashing government programs and benefits Georgians rely on, even going as far as introducing a bill to repeal the Nixon-era law blocking the president from having unilateral control over government spending.

“Permanently closing five Georgia Social Security offices will make it harder for Georgia seniors, especially in rural areas, to enroll in the program, solve payment issues, report fraud, and more,” said Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock. “As I have said before, I am all for cutting government waste and abuse, but never at the expense of hardworking Georgians, especially our retired seniors.”

Trump and Musk have targeted five Georgia Social Security Administration office closures, the most in the entire country. While Georgia Republicans continue to shrug over the negative consequences for Georgians, Georgia Democrats continue to fight back.
