All events, except where noted, are free for youth 16 and younger. Please buy your tickets in advance and bring your own seating. No pets allowed at events—certified service animals only. Members of the non-profit Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch receive ticketing discounts and other perks.

Chautauqua

Chautauqua programs are funded in part by a grant from
Nevada Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Special Event, June 17, 2023: 1:00-2:00 pm - $15.
Mary Ann Jung portrays "Rosie the Riveter," honoring America's World War Two home front heroes.

Evenings, 6:30-7:30 pm - $15.

June 28: Susan Marie Frontczak portrays Clara Barton, angel of the battlefield and American Red Cross founder.
July 12: Dorothea Phelan portrays Ysabel del Valle, Dona of Rancho Camulos, Piru, California.
July 26: David Woodruff portrays James Reed, pioneer and organizer of the ill-fated Donner Party emigration to California in 1846.
August 2: Anita Watson portrays Agnes Train Janssen, one of the first curators of the Nevada State Museum.
August 9: Kim Harris portrays Mary Perkins Bradbury, who was tried, convicted and sentenced to hang as a witch in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692.
August 23: Doug Mishler portrays Chuck Yeager, record-setting test pilot who became the first to exceed the speed of sound in level flight.

June 30, 10:00 am: Mike Hall portrays Fred Dangberg, rancher, politician, businessman, and gambler.
July 7, 10:00 am: Guinevere Hobdy portrays Lora Josephine Knight, widowed heiress and builder of Vikingsholm at Lake Tahoe's Emerald Bay.
July 21, 10:00 am: Kim Harris portrays Charley Parkhurst, old West stagecoach driver. Climb aboard Charley's stage and hear some wild tales of the Sierra Nevada.
July 28, 10:00 am: DebiLynn Smith portrays Alice Walker Hayes, first woman to serve as Mono County School Superindendent
August 4, 10:00 am: Guinevere Hobdy portrays Lora Josephine Knight, widowed heiress and builder of Vikingsholm at Lake Tahoe's Emerald Bay.
August 18, 10:00 am: DebiLynn Smith portrays Anna Harris, a prominent businesswoman in early Carson Valley.
September 8, 10:00 am: DebiLynn Smith portrays Nellie Mighels Davis, early Nevada journalist and civic leader.
September 15, 10:00 am: Kim Harris portrays Gertrude Hironymous Dangberg, wife of Fred Dangberg, Jr. who also served on several local and Nevada educational boards.

Chautauqua Workshop
$50/person, all ages; includes tickets to all Chautauqua events; please register in advance.
June 17, 10:00 am—Noon: Learn about portraying historical figures, for both fun and pay—beginners welcome! You'll learn the basics of research methods, costuming, presentation, and more.

Concerts

Evenings, 6:30-8:00 pm, $20.

June 8, 6:30 pm: Granna performs traditional Celtic music, a treat for Clan Dangberg.
June 22, 6:30 pm: Old West Trio and songs of the cowboy: three voices, two guitars, and a stand-up bass bring Western harmonies and plenty of fun.
July 13, 6:30 pm: The Catahoula Mardi Gras Party Band brings a variety of Cajun/Zydeco/Mardi Gras music.
July 27, 6:30 pm: First Take featuring Rick Metz entertains with vocal jazz from the great American song book.
August 10th, 6:30 pm: Carolyn Dolan & Big Red play rockin' blues and R&B with Mick Clarke on his Gibson guitar.
August 24, 6:30 pm: Moni & the Moonlighters keeps it fun with a 1950s-60s review.

June 24: Mark McLaughlin will speak on his book, SNOWBOUND! Legendary Winters of the Tahoe Sierra.
July 8: Karen Dustman will speak on her book, King of the Comstock South; The Life, Letters and Legacy of Lewis Chalmers.
July 15: Michael Makley will speak on his book, Imposing Order without Law: American Expansion to the Eastern Sierra, 1850–1865.
July 22: Paul Franklin will speak on his book, Alexander Parker Crittenden – Nevada Mining Lawyer, Adventurer, Confederate Partisan, and Philanderer.
August 5: Clare Frank will speak on her book, Burnt: A Memoir of Fighting Fire.
August 12: Dr. Michael Fischer, historian, "The Origin and Evolution of the Basque Hotel."
August 19: Linda Reid, author, will speak on her family history, A Window in Time.
August 26: Wendell Huffman, historian, will present "Wood for the Comstock."
