CNN: Senate Candidate Dave McCormick Led Hedge Fund That Bet Against Some of Pennsylvania’s Most Iconic Companies

PENNSYLVANIA — David McCormick had a terrible week. The Guardian exposed his investments in Russian sovereign bonds and CNN reported that McCormick bet against some of Pennsylvania’s most iconic companies.

A Look Back on McCormick’s Week:

A new report from The Guardian reveals that David McCormick invested $415 million in sanctioned Russian debt as CEO of Bridgewater Associates.

McCormick faced scrutiny for selling out Pennsylvania workers by making massive bets against iconic Pennsylvania companies, including U.S. Steel and Hershey.

McCormick was banned from a restaurant after his representative deceived a local business by telling them their planned campaign event was an autism awareness event.

    • Rachel Maddow: “Then there’s Pennsylvania, where the Republican Senate candidate this weekend decided to campaign outside of a cheesesteak shop in North Philly. That event ended with the manager of the shop saying that Republican Dave McCormick is ‘not welcome back.’ ‘You’re not welcome back.’ Then Dave McCormick crossed the street to a local Baptist church where the pastor there asked McCormick and his entourage to leave because he didn’t, among other things, want photos of his church’s members to be used by McCormick’s campaign. […] So, that went great for the Republican Senate candidate in Pennsylvania.”

Donald Trump called out David McCormick in front of thousands in Pennsylvania, telling rally goers that “nobody wants to hear [McCormick] right now.”

  • CNN: This Morning:
    • Donald Trump: David, I know you just spoke, just come here, stay, like for two seconds because nobody wants to hear you right now. Just come up.”
