Democrats Care: Menstrual Product Drive for Local Organizations
Celebrating Women's History Month - Feminine Hygiene Products Drive
March 2025
Overview
The Oklahoma Democratic Party is starting the Cares Committee to support all counties by staying involved in the community and leading with our party's values. This Women's Product Drive will be the first event of the year that we are asking for your involvement in. We believe that being involved in direct contact community service and staying visible outside of election cycles, will strengthen our standing in the community and give more visibility to some who may feel alone during these uncertain times. It is more important than ever to lead with joy and help those who need it most.
Plan
Starting March 1st, we are asking that you have a community drop location for members to donate feminine hygiene products. The donation box could be located on a member's porch, at the party office, or at specific drop-off times at a public meet location. We will be advertising with a Mobilize event, a social media post, and a newsletter.
When the items are taken to your donation center, we recommend that you contact the charity ahead of time and ask if our volunteers can help them with a shift. This could be food pantry needs, sorting clothes, serving a meal, or whatever your volunteers are able to commit to. For the future- Our plan is to have a different community volunteer activity each month for all counties to make their own, which will have a positive impact.
Choosing a Charity
For this donation, we want to focus on going to women’s shelters, homeless shelters, food pantries, or menstrual product distribution centers in our communities.
ODP Cares Future and Recruiting
We think that during these uncertain times, it is time to be active and support those who need it most. We have an active Mobilize form if you are interested in being on this committee. If you have party members that you think would fit the planning committee, please have them submit their information so we can build a diverse group across our state!
