Following Trump’s new tariff taxes, inflation spiked unexpectedly, defying economists’ predictions

ST PAUL – On Feb 12th, the Minnesota DFL Party released the following statement after new data showing that inflation jumped faster than expected following Donald Trump’s push for new tariff taxes impacting everything from housing to groceries.

“Minnesotans who want to buy a house or pay for groceries are going to suffer because of the Trump tariff taxes,” said Minnesota DFL Executive Director Heidi Kraus Kaplan. “Donald Trump promised that he would reduce prices on Day One, but his disastrous policies are already raising costs for working-class families in our state. Minnesotans saw through Donald Trump’s false promises in November, and they are going to remember the Minnesota Republicans who are cheering on his anti-working family agenda.”
