Dodgy David: Schweikert No-Show’s Only Debate of the Cycle

Empty podium and empty promises, Schweikert continues to abandon AZ-01

ARIZONA – On Oct 8th, the Democratic candidate for AZ-01, Dr. Amish Shah, stands on the debate stage alone after one of the most vulnerable Republicans in Congress ditches the only televised debate of the cycle. David Schweikert has a long record of abandoning Arizonans in Congress, co-sponsoring extreme abortion bans that jeopardize access to IVF, voting to cut Social Security and Medicare, and attempting to disenfranchise millions of voters during the 2020 election

“David Schweikert ditched tonight’s debate because he’s scared, ” said Chairwoman of the Arizona Democratic Party, Yolanda Bejarano. “Schweikert knows that his time in Congress is running out because his agenda of banning abortion, cutting Social Security and Medicare, and tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy is not what Arizonans want from their representatives. Arizonans are ready to reject David Schweikert and elect Dr. Amish Shah, a proven leader ready to move Arizona forward in Congress.”

Schweikert’s constituents know that “Schweikert is massaging the truth for his own political gain,” and that there are “2 faces of David Schweikert.” Throughout the years they have questioned, “Which David Schweikert should we believe?” Arizonans know that he supports “draconian measures that would limit bodily autonomy,” and that “District 1 deserves far better than this embarrassment of a politician […].”
