El Cajon to Host San Diego County’s Largest National Night Out Celebration

El Cajon, CA - The City of El Cajon is set to host San Diego County’s biggest National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 6th from 5-9 PM at Parkway Plaza. This annual event, which strengthens police-community partnerships and neighborhood unity, is expected to draw thousands of attendees from El Cajon and surrounding areas.

This year’s theme, “The Cops Are Throwing a Party and Everyone’s Invited!”, guarantees an action-packed evening. The El Cajon Police Department, alongside with partner agencies such as the California Highway Patrol and United States Border Patrol, will headline a series of exciting activities and demonstrations.

Attendees can anticipate exclusive tours of police cars, SWAT vehicles, and ATVs, exhilarating K9 demonstrations every hour, drone flyovers, and interactive activities with departments like Investigations, Communications, and SWAT teams. The event also features numerous family-friendly attractions, making it a true community celebration.

Delana Bennett from Star 94.1 will emcee the evening, ensuring a dynamic and entertaining atmosphere. BetaMaxx, San Diego’s favorite 80’s cover band, will perform live from 5-9PM and, while Ninja Nation brings their famous Ninja obstacle course all the way from Denver, CO. Local businesses will join in the festivities, offering a variety of arts and crafts projects throughout the night.
Police Chief Michael Moulton highlighted the importance of the event, stating, “National Night Out is a pivotal part of our community engagement efforts. It’s a fantastic opportunity to strengthen our relationships with residents and showcase the dedication of our law enforcement teams. We’re thrilled to welcome everyone to Parkway Plaza for an evening of fun, learning, and community spirit.”

Mayor Bill Wells added, “This event underscores the unity and strength of our community. It’s inspiring to see residents and law enforcement come together to celebrate and reinforce our commitment to safety and cooperation.”

The event is free and open to the public, thanks to the generous sponsorship of local businesses in El Cajon. Comprehensive safety and security measures will be in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
