It's Groundhog Day! What Kind of Shadow do YOU Cast?
Groundhog Day has us thinking about shadows this week, and what kind of shadow we cast on others. At Mill Ballet School we ask our older students to model good behavior and habits for younger dancers that are in their shadows as they begin their exploration of dance. This is an important part of growth for students from toddlers to teens as behaviors are shaped by the influence of the dancers and teachers they look up to. We ask all our students to consider this as they attend class; to dress in dance-appropriate attire, to keep quiet and focused in class, to ask questions, to show kindness to classmates, and respect for teachers. As we cross our fingers for an early spring, keep in mind the shadow you are casting on others every day.
