Writer of this fall's Redwood, Brittany K. Allen, on her origin at EST:
“Youngblood completely transformed my life.
This community of writers gave me confidence, inspiration, and —most important— an entire network of collaborators that I hope to make plays with all my life.
I'm not being hyperbolic when I say I simply wouldn't be the theater-maker I am today — in terms of ambition or artistry — without the early affirmation that this program provided.
In a time when so many playwright incubators are imperiled, I hope you'll support this inimitable, wonderful institution, which I'm proud to call one of my first artistic homes.”

Youngblood Alum & Playwright of Redwood
After years of development (and a pandemic postponement), we are thrilled to bring Brittany's play Redwood to to 52nd Street this Fall. Help us support more new work by artists like Brittany by making a gift to our Origins Fund.
You can help set the stage for Redwood and the rest of our upcoming season! Contributions made by Friday, June 30 will be matched by a generous donor.

coming fall 2023
When Steve Durbin goes down the rabbit hole of online genealogy, he makes an unwelcome discovery that throws his entire family into turmoil. Chiefly: his niece, Meg, who's forced to reconsider her relationship with Drew, a white physicist. With acid wit, love, and dance, Redwood ponders the project of interracial family-making (or: love?) in a haunted country.
Stay tuned for more information on our 55th season!
