Florida Democratic Party Celebrates Ceasefire Between Israel and Hamas

Government and Politics

January 17, 2025

On January 17, 2025, the Israel Security Cabinet recommended to approve a ceasefire and hostage deal. The deal negotiated by the Biden-Harris Administration will “halt the fighting in Gaza, surge much-needed humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians, and reunite the hostages with their families after more than 15 months in captivity.” In response, the Florida Democratic Party has released the following statement:

“I’m grateful for a ceasefire in Gaza and the return of so many hostages to their families,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “For 15 months, we have hoped and prayed for peace as the war and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza have raged on - driven by the actions of the terrorist organization Hamas. Today, we finally get to breathe a sigh of relief.

“I want to thank the Biden-Harris Administration for their tireless efforts to end the fighting and bring everyone home - though the work isn’t done until every hostage has been freed. Today is proof of the strength of American diplomacy, and I look forward to the continued efforts to bring peace to Israel and the Middle East.”
