From: Guilford County SchoolsGreensboro, NC - Foust Elementary will design its new gaming and robotics program with support from NewSchools Venture Fund. The national nonprofit has included the school in its portfolio of Innovative Public Schools.
Foust Elementary, which is under construction as one of the district’s bond projects, is set to reopen as a gaming and robotics elementary school, the first of its kind in the nation.
“The gaming and robotics program will allow our students to explore and embrace new technologies that can lead to high-paying jobs in growing industries,” says principal Kendrick Alston. “By collaborating with industry and university experts, Foust will close gaps between workplace innovation and classroom learning, and help students draw their own maps to exciting college and career destinations.”
The NewSchools Venture Fund will contribute to the design of the gaming and robotics program. Foust Elementary will also receive management assistance and a national community of practice to support the school and its success.
