We're excited to announce we will be open on Thursdays starting on Thursday, April 6! Our hours on Thursdays will be 10AM-5PM. We would like to extend our appreciation to the community, the Board of Library Trustees, and the library staff for their support on achieving this endeavor!
Art Exhibit and Reception: Jude Abbe
The Library is pleased to exhibit artist Jude Abbe's work for the months of April (starting April 8) and May. There will be an artist reception announced soon.
Holiday Closure
The Library will be closed on Monday, April 17 in observance of the Patriots Day holiday. The Library will reopen on Tuesday, April 18 at 10AM.
Try out our Garden Tools!
Happy Spring! Check out the Library’s collection of specialty garden tools! All tools are available for Georgetown residents to borrow for one week with a possibility of one renewal. Go to our website for detailed descriptions of the tools and the tool borrowing policy.
Minute Madness 2023 Update
We had a tough competitor with Burlington and unfortunately, we are not heading to the Championship this year.
Great job to everyone who signed up for this challenge and logged their minutes. We had a total of 161 people read 168,574 minutes! There's always next year!
Upcoming Events
Teen Event: Dungeons & Dragons
For those in grades 7-12!
Wednesdays, April 5 and 12 at 3PM
Join us for adventure! Everything you need to play is provided, all you have to do is show up. All skill levels are welcome. Max 6 players per session, first come, first served.
Family Story Time
Fridays at 10AM starting Friday, April 7
All ages! Three to four books will be read. Children and parents will also participate in songs, finger-plays, and a simple craft.
Teen Event: GPL Arcade
For those in grades 7-12!
Mondays, April 10 and 24 at 3PM
Come hang as we turn the Library into a gaming paradise! There’s nothing quite like playing the Switch on our giant projector screen!
Reading to a Library Dog
Monday, April 10 at 4PM
Come and read to Aston, a certified therapy dog. Registration is required. This program is designed to help develop reading skills and is recommended for children who want to practice their reading fluency.
Bouncing Books & Babies
Tuesdays at 10AM starting Tuesday, April 11
Ages 6 months to 2 1/2 years
Program will include two to three books, songs, finger-plays, and circle games.
50+ Job Seekers Networking Group
January to June 2023
More than 60 Massachusetts public libraries have partnered to offer this program to support people fifty years and older looking for a new job, a new career direction, or a Second Act career. Take advantage of these free biweekly skill-building and networking group meetings. Attendance at each session is not necessary! Click here for more information and where to register.
Tinker Play Group
Thursday, April 13 at 10AM
Families with children ages 2 and up. Materials will include STEM and sensory items for younger children based on the books Loose Parts by Lisa Daly and Miriam Beloglovsky and other preschool STEM resources. Kids will have an opportunity to explore the materials at their own pace while interacting with their adults and peers.
Chess Club
Thursday, April 13 at 3:30PM
For students in 3rd - 6th grade. An informal gathering of students interested in playing chess with others. A knowledge of how to play chess is recommended. The chess boards and pieces will be provided. Register online.

Using Native Plants in Your Yard and Garden

Have you ever wanted to create a beautiful oasis in your backyard while supporting local flora and fauna?? Join Ellen, a plant fanatic and pollinator lover, to learn about the many ways you can create beautiful and beneficial pollinator habitats in just a few steps. Registration is highly recommended.
April Vacation Children's Passive Programming
April 18 through April 22
Book Character Scavenger Hunt: Various children's book characters will be hiding throughout the library. See how many you can find!
Take & Make Planting Kit: It will be available for kids beginning April 18 until they run out.
Pajama Story Time
Wednesday, April 19 at 6:45PM
Come to the library for a fun evening! 3-4 books, songs, rhymes and a quiet activity will be offered. Wearing pajamas is encouraged. This program is for all ages.
What Can You Build?
Thursday, April 20 at 10AM
Building materials and challenges will be available to create amazing structures. Build with Lego’s, Keva Planks, and other materials. Pictures of all of the amazing creations will be posted on the library website. Families of all ages are welcome.
Adult Craft Night
Tuesday, April 25 at 6:30PM
Enjoy making a craft while socializing with other adults! This craft is making a bead and wire sun catcher! All craft supplies provided. Led by longtime crafter Rachelle Toth. Registration is required. The class is limited to 25 seats.
Short Stories of the Civil War
Tuesday, April 25 at 7PM
This is not your boring High School history class! If you do not like the subject being discussed, it will change in just a few minutes. Learn about Army Sutlers, Love Tokens (jewelry), an anti-war poem that became a Christmas Carol, and the unknown stories of ordinary but heroic soldiers just doing their duty. Register online.
Teen Event: Painting Happy Lil Minis
For those in grades 7-12!
Wednesday, April 26 at 3PM
Join Teen Librarian Kyle Coston as he teaches you how to paint a nasty ork warrior! All materials provided.

Beginner Book Club
Tuesday, April 4 at 4PM
For students in kindergarten through 3rd grade. The book will be provided and read together (independent reading skills are not required). Join us for a book discussion and questions, along with jokes, riddles, and a craft! Space is limited and registration is required.
