Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers proudly announces that Ron Shurts, owner of the Arizona Rattlers, will serve as the Grand Marshal for the 11th Annual Hometown Christmas Parade set for Saturday, December 14, 2024.

Everyone is invited to join Mayor Jerry Weiers and Grand Marshal Ron Shurts, along with Rattlers players and staff, in participating in this family-friendly event that will take place in downtown Glendale between 52nd Avenue and 58th Avenue.

The parade has become a tradition, and the committee that makes this event happen every year takes great pride in it. The all-volunteer group consists of representatives from nonprofits, faith-based organizations, businesses, individuals, and the City of Glendale. Although the parade is held in Glendale, the event has participants and sponsors from across the Valley that are all focused on one thing: celebrating the reason for the season.

Mayor Weiers encourages everyone to rally their friends and co-workers to celebrate Christmas in this annual Glendale tradition. Decorate your vehicle or a flatbed trailer, march in costume or get creative with wagons, golf carts and more. It is also a great way to promote your business or organization.

It’s all for a great cause. Last year, organizers of the Hometown Christmas Parade donated over $100,000 and thousands of pounds of food to Hope for Hunger Food Bank (https://phoenixrescuemission.org/hope-for-hunger) in Glendale.

The registration deadline is December 4, 2024. For more information visit hcparade.org/parade-entry.

BACKGROUND:

Less than one year ago, Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers and his fellow City Council members welcomed Ron and the Arizona Rattlers to their new home at Desert Diamond Arena, Glendale’s state-of-the-art, multi-purpose facility, which anchors the 223-acre, $1 billion development Westgate Entertainment District. With their recent National Championship win in August of this year, the Rattlers remain Arizona's most winningest professional team, with a total of seven national championships and eight conference championships.

Currently, Hope for Hunger Food Bank provides emergency food along with case management and job assistance to more than 300 Glendale families every day. The goal of the parade is for an even larger donation this year, so spectators are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations to the parade or make a cash donation online at www.hcparade.org/food-drive.
