Don't miss the Glendale Folk & Heritage Festival on Saturday, March 4 & Sunday, March 5 at Sahuaro Ranch Park. This annual celebration of folk music, its history, and culture is free and open to the public from 10 AM-5 PM on both days, with the adjacent Main Library Auditorium hosting several performances from 10 AM-5 PM on Saturday and 1-5 PM on Sunday.

The festival will feature more than 400 performers on six stages, showcasing musical styles including bluegrass, traditional ballads, country, blues, old-time, and contemporary folk. Enjoy live cowboy poetry, authentic storytelling, engaging workshops, activities for kids, a Plein Air Painting Competition, food trucks, and more. 

This unique festival is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to experience the rich history and culture of folk music. Landscape Design

Learn how to design an attractive Arizona-friendly landscape while conserving water on Monday, March 6, from 6-7:30 PM at the Main Library. Join Erin Hutton, a Landscape Designer and instructor at the Desert Botanical Garden's Design Credential program, as she shares basic design principles that prioritize water efficiency.

Acoustic Afternoon: Folk, Blues & Maritime Music

Journey through time with three talented folk musicians from New England who were once affiliated with Pete Seeger. Rik Palieri will entertain you with tunes on guitar and banjo, plus tales from his new book, Banjo Man: Adventures of an American Folksinger. Rick and Donna Nestler, a husband and wife duo, will add their multi-instrumental expertise and experience in traditional genres. Come for the music and memories on Tuesday, March 7, from 2-3:30 PM at the Foothills Library.

Hunting Hummingbirds in Ecuador: 

A Photographic Exploration

Explore the stunning landscapes of Ecuador, home to over 130 species of hummingbirds, on Monday, March 13, from 6:30-7:30 PM at the Main Library. Journey through the shrublands of the Andes and the lush rainforests of the Amazon as the Audubon Society's Bob McCormick shares his beautiful photos of these dazzling little birds, from hermits to pufflegs. Discover fantastic tropical lodges and cloud forests, where the rain comes from a surprising source. You'll even learn to take amazing hummingbird photos in your own backyard!
