On Monday, as thousands of federal workers and government contractors across Virginia face firings and layoffs, Governor Glenn Youngkin doubled down on his only response to Donald Trump’s actions: telling fired workers to find new jobs in the private sector.

“Glenn Youngkin not only has a gross misunderstanding of what it means to be jobless and without a paycheck, but he is shamelessly trying to play both sides by pretending to support federal workers while kissing the rings of Donald Trump and Elon Musk,” said DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker. “He cannot have it both ways—he either supports the Commonwealth he was elected to serve, or he aligns himself with the wannabe autocrats who are actively hurting Virginia’s workers and economy.
