From: Delaware Governor John CarneyWILMINGTON, Del. – Governor John Carney on Thursday announced that he will nominate Sean P. Lugg to serve as a Superior Court Judge in New Castle County. If confirmed, Lugg will take the seat formerly held by Superior Court Judge William C. Carpenter, Jr.
“Sean is well respected in and out of the courtroom, and has the experience and judgment necessary to serve on the Superior Court,” said Governor Carney. “I know he will serve Delaware well. I look forward to the Senate considering his nomination.”
Lugg has served with the Delaware Department of Justice (DDOJ) since 1996 and currently serves as Chief of Appeals within the Criminal Division. He previously served as State Prosecutor and in that role, was the head of the Criminal Division. Earlier in his career, he served as Delaware’s first Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor. Lugg also has experience in the DDOJ’s Fraud Division and Civil Division. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and a J.D. from the Villanova University School of Law.
Governor Carney also nominated Commissioner Janine M. Salomone for reappointment as a Superior Court Commissioner in New Castle County. Governor Carney nominated and the Senate confirmed Commissioner Salomone in January 2019.
The Governor’s nominations will be submitted to the Delaware State Senate for consideration.
