From: Ohio Governor Mike DeWineColumbus, OH -- Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted on Dec 7th, announced the approval of assistance for 14 projects set to create 1,663 new jobs and retain 3,457 jobs statewide.
During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. Collectively, the projects are expected to result in more than $99.7 million in new payroll and spur more than $202.6 million in investments across Ohio.
Projects approved by the TCA include:
NORTHEAST
Acorn Stairlifts Inc., Sheffield Township (Lorain County), expects to create 125 full-time positions, generating $5.4 million in new annual payroll, as a result of the company’s new location project in Sheffield Township. Acorn is America's leading stairlift manufacturer. The company specializes in the manufacturing and installation of in-home stairlifts. The TCA approved a 1.297%, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
MUM Industries Inc., city of Mentor (Lake County), expects to create 45 full-time positions, generating $2.1 million in new annual payroll and retaining $4.3 million in existing payroll, as a result of the company’s expansion project in Mentor. MUM Industries primarily manufactures metallic and non-metallic enclosures for electrical equipment. The TCA approved a 1.127%, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
Momentive Performance Materials Quartz Inc., city of Strongsville (Cuyahoga County), expects to create 97 full-time positions, generating $7 million in new annual payroll and retaining $46.1 million in existing payroll, as a result of the company’s expansion project in Strongsville. Momentive Quartz Technologies is a spin-out of Momentive Performance Materials' quartz and ceramics division. The quartz and ceramic produced by the company are used in semiconductors and microchips used for technology (computers, medical devices, etc.). The TCA approved a 1.584%, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
Crane Carrier Co. LLC, city of New Philadelphia (Tuscarawas County), expects to create 434 full-time positions, generating $18 million in new annual payroll and retaining $13.7 million in existing payroll, as a result of the company’s acquisition project in New Philadelphia. Crane Carrier, DBA Battle Motors, is a leader in the vocational truck industry. The company provides custom, severe-service chassis and purpose-built vehicles for the refuse, recycling, infrastructure maintenance, ground support, agriculture, and oil and gas industries. The TCA approved a 1.464%, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
Knight Material Technologies LLC, city of Canton (Stark County), expects to create 45 full-time positions, generating $2.5 million in new annual payroll and retaining $5.9 million in existing payroll, as a result of the company’s expansion project in Canton. Knight Material Technologies, formerly Koch Knight, is a manufacturer of ceramic mass transfer and acid-proof equipment, providing advanced, industry-leading corrosion prevention technologies and solutions. The TCA approved a 1.250%, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
Biery Cheese Co., city of Louisville (Stark County), expects to create 51 full-time positions, generating $2.2 million in new annual payroll and retaining $18 million in existing payroll, as a result of the company’s consolidation project in Louisville. Biery Cheese is a value-added processor of cheese products, providing innovative and custom preparation and packaging services meeting the needs of customers. The TCA approved a 1.130%, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
Shambaugh & Son LP, Brookfield Township (Trumbull County), expects to create 75 full-time positions, generating $4.1 million in new payroll, as a result of the company’s new location project in Brookfield Township. Shambaugh specializes in a full range of new and retrofit construction for industrial, food processing, commercial, institutional, health care, pharmaceutical, and bio-fuel projects. The TCA approved a 1.417%, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
NORTHWEST
Tower Automotive Operations USA I LLC, city of Bellevue (Sandusky County), expects to create 150 full-time positions, generating $8.5 million in new annual payroll and retaining $16.7 million in existing payroll, as a result of the company’s expansion project in Bellevue. Autokiniton is a global manufacturer of engineered structural metal components and assemblies. The company supplies the automotive industry with body-structure stampings, frames, and welded assemblies for small and large cars, crossovers, pickups, and SUVs. Tower Automotive was acquired by Autokiniton in 2019. The TCA approved a 1.560%, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
SOUTHEAST
Bellisio Foods Inc., city of Jackson (Jackson County), expects to create 177 full-time positions, generating $7.3 million in new annual payroll and retaining $45.3 million in existing payroll, as a result of the company’s expansion project in Jackson. Bellisio is the third-largest producer of single-serve frozen entrees. Its parent company is Charoen Pokphand Foods of Thailand. Bellisio’s largest production facility is in Jackson. The TCA approved a 1.233%, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
SOUTHWEST
Sugaright LLC, city of Springdale (Hamilton County), expects to create 39 full-time positions, generating $2 million in new annual payroll, as a result of the company’s new location project in Springdale. Sugaright offers a variety of liquid sugar colors as an alternative to water white liquid sugar. The refinery produces sucrose products in a variety of colors for baked goods, condiments, and other food items. The TCA approved a 1.066%, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
WEST
Epsilon C5I Inc., city of Beavercreek (Greene County), expects to create 200 full-time positions, generating $25 million in new annual payroll and retaining $375,000 in existing payroll, as a result of the company’s expansion project in Beavercreek. Epsilon provides Command, Control, Communications, Combat Systems, and Intelligence (C5I) products and services to NASIC, Air Force, Space Force, DoD, IC, and National Security customers. The TCA approved a 2.481%, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
CENTRAL
RXO Corporate Solutions LLC, city of Columbus (Franklin County), expects to create 75 full-time positions, generating $3.75 million in new annual payroll and retaining $7.19 million in existing payroll, as a result of the company’s expansion project in Columbus. RXO is a new public spin-off from XPO Logistics. The company provides third-party freight brokerage services. The TCA approved a 1.285%, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
Safecor Health LLC, city of Columbus (Franklin County), expects to create 100 full-time positions, generating $5.5 million in new annual payroll and retaining $7.7 million in existing payroll, as a result of the company’s expansion project in Columbus. Safecor was started in 2008 with the goal of improving patient safety and hospital pharmacy operations through outsourced unit-dose repackaging with the anticipation that medication safety guidelines would soon recommend unit-dose, bar-coded medication. The TCA approved a 1.417%, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
Voyager Space Force LLC, city of Columbus (Franklin County), expects to create 50 full-time positions, generating $5.9 million in new annual payroll, as a result of its new location project in Columbus. Leveraging more than 20 years of spaceflight heritage, Voyager is enabling the next generation of space infrastructure and technology. The company has worked with more than 500 customers from 35-plus nations around the world as their space solutions provider. The TCA approved a 2.033%, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
