From: Wyoming Governor Mark GordonWyoming’s outdoor recreation economy has thrived over the past several years, growing to more than $2 billion, with more than 16,000 outdoor recreation jobs distributed around the state. Governor Mark Gordon delves into the future of outdoor recreation in Wyoming in the newest episode of his podcast, “The Morning Gather”.
Joining the Governor on the latest episode are Dave Glenn, Director of Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources; Dan McCoy, Interim Director of the University of Wyoming’s Wyoming Outdoor Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality (WORTH) Initiative; and Clay Miller, owner of the Paradise Guest Ranch in Buffalo, who has previously served as President of the Dude Rancher's Association and Chairman of the Wyoming Tourism Board. The lively discussion touches on how outdoor recreation and visitation has evolved in Wyoming, the opportunities created by the newly established Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund, and how local communities are collaborating on how to manage the challenges that can accompany increased visitation.
“It’s about getting people invested in the recreation that they want to see,” Governor Gordon says during the conversation. “It’s more about quality, not just volume. Trying to figure out how we get the right ethic around how we develop recreation is going to be a real challenge.”
