From: Massachusetts Governor Maura HealeyBOSTON - On July 18, 2024, Governor Maura Healey swore in the members of her new Labor Advisory Council. Earlier this year, Governor Healey became the first Massachusetts Governor in more than 50 years to create such a council. The Chairs are President of Massachusetts AFL-CIO Chrissy Lynch and President of UNITE HERE Local 26 Carlos Aramayo and members represent organized labor from a wide range of industries and regions of the state.
“From day one, our administration has been working hand in hand with our partners in labor to make Massachusetts more affordable, equitable and competitive. Labor unions work hard not only to support their members, but all workers in Massachusetts. The Labor Advisory Council will help advise our entire team on how we can continue to build on this progress and best support the hardworking men and women of Massachusetts,” said Governor Healey. “We’ve assembled an incredible team of leaders, led by Chrissy Lynch and Carlos Aramayo, and we can’t wait to get started.”
“When we talk about helping organized labor, we’re talking about helping our educators, nurses, firefighters, builders and service workers who help propel our communities forward,” said Lieutenant Governor Driscoll. “I am excited to work with these leaders to continue helping our nurses, firefighters and builders together.”
“This Labor Advisory Council is representative of Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll’s recognition that working people are critical to every aspect of life in Massachusetts,” said Chrissy Lynch, President of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO. “I’m proud to be leading this impressive group of leaders who will make sure that the voices of union members and working people are front and center in policy making.”
“The organized labor community in Massachusetts is strong, innovative and diverse – just like this Labor Advisory Council,” said Carlos Aramayo, President, UNITE HERE Local 26. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve as Chair and am grateful to Governor Healey for making this a priority.”
