From: Massachusetts Governor Maura HealeyBoston - Next month, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey will host the 45th annual New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers (NEG-ECP) Conference. The conference will focus on energy and the clean energy transition and will present an opportunity to discuss goals and seek alignment on the offshore wind supply chain and hard-to-decarbonize sectors.
On Monday, September 9, the Governors and Premiers will visit a clean energy site and attend a welcome reception at Fenway Park. On September 10, Governor Healey will host roundtable meetings followed by a press conference.
“Massachusetts is proud to host the 45th annual New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers Conference,” said Governor Healey. “As we work to combat climate change, our administration has prioritized deepening our relationships with neighbors. Through these partnerships, we’ve recently secured hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funds and made transformational progress on regional transmission development. Our partners in New England and Eastern Canada are vital to seizing the opportunity to drive economic development through clean energy across our region. By working together, we can transform our grid and deliver clean, affordable energy to our residents and businesses.”

Since 1973, the six New England states and the five Eastern Canadian provinces have worked cooperatively to address their shared interests across the border. Through the annual conferences of governors and premiers and discussions of joint committees, the NEG-ECP encourages cooperation by developing networks and relationships, taking collective action, engaging in regional projects, undertaking research, and increasing public awareness of shared interests.
The 11-member jurisdictions of NEG-ECP are Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Québec.
