From: Kansas Governor Laura KellyTOPEKA - Governor Laura Kelly announced Tuesday that she has appointed Natalie K. Morlock of Dodge City, Kansas to a judgeship position in the 25th Judicial District. The position was created through the retirement of Judge Christopher Sanders.
“Natalie brings a broad range of experience and a commitment to public service to the bench,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “I am confident she will serve the 25th Judicial District impartially, respectfully, and thoughtfully.”
Natalie K. Morlock is a solo practitioner out of Dodge City, KS, since 2017. Before that, she served as the Ford County Attorney from 2013 to 2017. She served two terms on the board of directors of New Chance, Inc., an organization that helps people with substance use disorders. Natalie is active in the legal community with her membership in the Kansas Bar Association, the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and as a volunteer investigative attorney for the Kansas Attorney Disciplinary Office.
“I’m honored that Governor Kelly has placed her faith in me through this appointment,” said Natalie Morlock. “My family and I are looking forward to settling into the community in Garden City, KS, and I am elated to be joining the ranks of the wonderful judges and court staff in the 25th Judicial District."
District Court Judges in the 25th Judicial District are appointed by the governor and selected from nominees chosen by a district nominating commission. Judges in nominating commission districts are subject to retention elections every four years.
The other nominees selected by the district nominating commission were Lara Blake Bors, Brian Sherwood, Nicholas Vrana, and Susan Richmeier.
